Astrid S, otherwise known as Norway’s holy queen of synth-pop, returns next week — on October 12, to be exact — with a new single called “Emotion.” The 21-year-old shared the stunning cover art on Instagram along with a glowing endorsement. “It’s my favorite song that I’ve ever written and made!,” she captioned the post. At this point, it’s unclear if “Emotion” is another cut from her much-anticipated debut LP or a taste of her third EP. (Fourth if you count the acoustic version of Party’s Over).
Regardless of the format, Astrid’s new single is destined to be another brilliant bop or dreamy mid-tempo. After all, her discography is close to flawless. Since arriving on the international stage with a feature on Matoma’s “Running Out,” the pop star has rolled out a string of perfect pop songs including “Hurts So Good,” “Bloodstream” and (my favorite) “Breathe.” She also showed off her versatility with a semi-acoustic track called “Think Before I Talk” late last year. See the cover of “Emotion” below.
